Thank you for reading the most recent post on holdingforthhisword. May Christ’s Word dwell in His children richly. Amen!

  2. I’ve been always inspired by Einstein and his criticism of dumbness since I’m seeing a lot of it. I had to study Nietzsche at University 30 years ago, and although, I didn’t accept everything, I found his opinions worth exploring. Robert Frost should be in everybody’s home library. My most favorite thinkers and poets for a long time were Kafka, Rainer Maria-Rilke and some Latvian poets which you most likely don’t know but who did a lot to translate Goethes works in Latvian. I’ve done a lot of poetry translations from German and English into Latvian, as well, but certainly seeing some quotes from people who I assume highly inspirational is nice.

  3. Thank you for sharing these quotes!

5 years ago I wasn’t the most confident person. I’m still pretty shy up to this day, but I know I’ve improved a lot since then. I just kept reading and consuming everything I come across that I find interesting. I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried a couple things. Gradually, I started becoming more confident about myself. I can participate in conversations and actually contribute. I can talk to anyone about a range of topics.

The important thing is to keep packing yourself with knowledge, confidence will follow.

  4. You’ve picked a lot of my favorite quotes. Robert Frost was always one of my favorite poets in high school, and that quote from Thomas Edison always makes me smile. Keep writing.

  5. There is an excellent selection of quotes for each of us to choose from. The one that resonated with me was,“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.”
    ― Dalai Lama XIV

As I write about the path to improved health and happiness, I repeatedly mention the need for personal responsibility and self involvement for the quest to be successful. We will never find a means to improve the overall health of the body by searching externally. We need to nurture our lives, our bodies and our emotions to provide the necessary tools to allow the body to function as it was designed to do.

  6. Inspiring quotes from these inspiring people are infectious. These will serve as a reminder, or even a guide on what one should be doing with his life when confusions and cluelessness come in.

  7. I was smiling almost ear to ear while reading this quotations. Thank you for the inspiration! It actually gave me hope to be fearless. And thank you, too, for always liking my blogs. Best wishes to you!

  8. What a lovely collection of quotes! You have definitely thrown some of my favorites in there (particularly the one by Einstein). It is always so eye opening to see things through the eyes of those we revere, and a new perspective is so necessary once in a while to pull us out of a stagnant state. Thanks for sharing!

  9. The latest science I’ve seen on intelligence shows that we tend to fall toward a genetically inherited IQ level as we get older, and all of the benefits given to us by upbringing tend to count for less. Our general intelligence (or G) is a somewhat fixed resource, but what is under our control is what we do with it. In the end, persistence is what makes the biggest difference in what we achieve, and the easiest ways to achieve persistence is by following your passion: “Know thyself”

  10. Here are some more of your quotes from last year I liked very much:

“I know fear is an obstacle for some people, but to me it’s an illusion. Any fear is an illusion. You think something is standing in your way, but nothing is there – only an opportunity to do your best and gain some success.”
    – Michael Jordan

“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.”
    ― Milton Berle

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”
    ― Leo Buscaglia

“If I am not good to myself, how can I expect anyone else to be good to me?”
    ― Maya Angelou

“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.”
    ― Carl Jung

“Wherever you are, and whatever you do, be in love.”
    ― Rumi

    – Mario Puzo

    – Unknown

Thanks for visiting my page, and I’m glad to follow back and get more inspiration from your posts! 🙂

  12. Thanks for visiting my blog! I looked through some of the recent posts and this one really resonated with me. I especially like the Oscar Wile quote about being yourself. Sometimes we forget that we really just do need to be our authentic selves rather than trying to be like some idealized view of ourselves.
